Girl at the Rock Shows

I know that I try to share out lesser known acts in this blog and that Modern English is far from a lesser known act but I feel like their new track “Not My Leader” is just too good to not share out.

I won’t bore you with the background of this legendary English band from the 1980s but they are an institution in the punk world and “Not My Leader” just reminds you of that. With a slight nod to the new-wave/ post-punk world of the 1980s, this song comes off as a fresh take on a classic sound with a whole lot of heart and history behind it. It’s not super fast or in your face yet it instantly catches you and gets you stuck in a world that you may have forgotten about. Honestly, as I listened to this song, I couldn’t fight the urge to switch my playlist from nostalgic pop-punk to something a bit more classic because this song just hit so perfectly. That being said, I know those classic playlists won’t hit the spot as hard as this track does just because of that subtle modern twist that Modern English has added into this song.
