My Monday has gotten off to a great start. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m buried in work especially after taking the day off from my day job on Friday but I’m feeling good about how much I’ve gotten done thus far and feel like this calls for a little celebration in the form of checking out a new song. Whether you need a little pick-me-up already or are like me and are having a great day so far and just want to celebrate, “Today” from Sleepless Denver is the track for you.
“Today” is not aggressive or angsty in any way. Instead, it’s full of passionate heart and soul. The song was written in memory of one of the band member’s great-grandmother who passed away in 2019. You can feel that pain but, what I loved more, was the fact that you could feel the love. Although not aggressive, there is an undeniable sense of catchiness throughout this song. There are nods to everything from pop-punk to alt-rock to even just straight up commercial-pop in this song. Sleepless Denver has seamlessly woven all of those genres together to create an ear-catching track that will both wake you up and make you feel so much love and warmth.
