Girl at the Rock Shows

I still don’t have anything new to share with you. It’s odd to have a day moving so smoothly (knock on wood) but I’ll take it and savor it by spending a lot of time with amazing new music like “Your New Aesthetic” from Origami Summer.

A blend of indie rock and post-hardcore is a hard blend to nail but Origami Summer has absolutely perfected it and their new song “Your New Aesthetic” is proof of that. The first song of their new upcoming album, “Your New Aesthetic” can either hit you like a ton of bricks or wrap around you like a cozy blanket depending on your mood. There’s power here but that power can also come off as chill and comforting vibes if you want it to. That’s what I mean by the blend of indie rock and post-hardcore being a fickle blend to try and nail. On top of all of this, the lyrics of “Your New Aesthetic” and beyond perfect. It’s a song about realizing the strength that you have in yourself and the fact that you don’t need to seek validation from anyone. Although is seems like common sense, it’s something that I feel like we could all use a little reminder of and I can’t thank Origami Summer enough for taking the time to remind me of this with this track.
