Happy Wednesday! I wish I had something to share with you but I just don’t. Last night was a chill date night with the boyfriend and I woke up this morning feeling fairly rested which is a bit weird for me. I may not have a quirky story about my day yet but what I do have for you is an amazing song to kick your day off with so let’s just jump right in.
Mavis wastes no time hooking you with the intro (or lack there of) on this song. Instead of easing you into “Lonely Show”, Mavis instantly hits you with a catchy little guitar riff before heartfelt lyrics come in and take this song off. This song seems to teeter on the edge of being emotional and being straight-up fun which I absolutely love. It instantly reminded me of Spanish Love Songs (who is my current addiction) in all of the right ways. It’s a punk song with a bombastic chorus but tender sensibilities scattered throughout the three and a half minute long track. Mavis is from Toronto, Canada so I honestly don’t know when I’ll get a chance to see them live but I can tell you that after just one listen to “Lonely Show”, I’m craving a visit from this band and will surely be in the front row should they ever travel south of the border.
