Today is my Friday. I love it because it means I don’t have to come into my day job tomorrow but, at the same time, I’m feeling the pressure to get more done today than is humanly possible. I’m really trying to get in the mentality of I can only do as much as I can do and I need to be okay with that but it’s been rough so I need a little breather to reset. This breather is brought to you by Shapes in the Water and their first single from their upcoming album ‘Reinvent the Sun’, “Catacombs”.

“Catacombs” starts off slow and steady but the way it draws you into Shapes in the Water’s world is stunning. Even as the song ramps up, you never really get hit with a super powerful wall of sound. Instead, you are hit with a stunning amount of heart and passion that reigns supreme throughout this four-minute long song. There are layers upon layers of both instrumentation and vocals in this song that are nothing short of captivating. “Catacombs” is a song that is super easy to get lost in and was just what I needed as far as taking a little breather. It also acted as a perfect reset with the calming and comforting nature of every note that slides by in this song. Although there are no epic breakdowns to speak of here, there’s so much power behind this song that, by the end of it, you will feel both refreshed and exhausted at the same time all in the best ways possible.
