Well, it’s another Monday meaning another week full of too much work and not enough time. I’m already feeling the heat of the week coming on so I need a moment to just re-set and get in the mind frame of, “I can only do what I can do with the time that I have” and “Joy” from Northern Captives is definitely helping with that.

The first thing that hooked me about “Joy” is the pure emotion that comes through with every beat and note of this track. “Joy” is the third single from Northern Captives’ upcoming album and it’s a song about frustration. Although it’s specifically about the frustrations that vocalist Sam Cook has with “late capitalism and the stripping of human qualities”, I feel like this song can be adapted to many different scenarios making it a perfect “venting” kind of song. Stylistically, this track tows the lines between alt-rock and post-hardcore in a unique and fresh way. It gives you moments that will get stuck in your head and others that make you think and get lost in your own head. Long story short, “Joy” from Northern Captivates will make you feel something strong and that makes it the perfect track to kick your week off with.
