Girl at the Rock Shows

I feel like every since I’ve started reviewing singles, I’ve been shocked at how many bands I don’t know here in the Twin Cities. The platform I use to find my singles is world-wide yet I feel like there are Minneapolis acts submitted to me daily and it makes my heart so full. I love the fact that, although I feel super connected to the local scene, there’s still a crap ton more local music out there including Neighbor Dog. Neighbor Dog is a local Minneapolis-band that is brand new but, based on their single “Moon Bear”, you can expect to see their name come across this blog again in the near future.

I really like the message behind “Moon Bear”. It’s a song about feeling like, no matter what you do, it’s never enough. I know that’s a bit of a bummer of a message but the power that Neighbor Dog presents this message with makes it an almost uplifting track as if it’s okay to only get done what you can do with the time you have. Honestly, it’s something I’ve been trying to get better with so to say that this song hit me at the perfect time would be an understatement. Overall, this song has a very DIY emo-punk feel to it. It’s raw through and through which adds a sense of charm and the intensity in some of the lines of notes and words is truly off the charts. “Moon Bear” is off of Neighbor Dog’s upcoming EP ‘Ozzy’.
