Girl at the Rock Shows

It’s already proving to be an insanely busy Tuesday which is why this first single of the day is a late one for me. That being said, it’s been a good day and I’m ready to keep up the motivation and my current steady stream of getting stuff done and I need a song to match that energy. Thankfully, “I’m a Mess from WeKnewNothing featuring Trevor Daniel is hitting all the marks on that right now while also giving me a second to catch my breath and acknowledge that not everything will be perfect today.

The first thing that really hooked me about this song is the power that comes through starting with the first couple of notes. It’s aggressive and in your face but there’s a sense of care and tenderness behind it too. Instead of a song that is just constantly edgy and intense, I feel like WeKnewNothing and Trevor perfectly nailed a rollercoaster of a ride as far as emotion and sonic loudness go. I will warn you, if you’re purely looking for a nostalgic feeling song, this is not the one for you. There are a lot of elements that feel more in the vibe of KennyHoopla and POORSTACY throughout this song but, at the same time, you get little glimpses of something a bit more classic. Again, the balance here is perfect as this song seems to be tethered between the world of old and new so perfectly. “I’m a Mess” is a catchy bop that will surely get stuck in your head so just prepare yourself for that as you buckle up and enjoy this ride.
