Whoops! I was going to spend all morning digging into music but then work got in the way and now it’s nearly lunch time. Well, not quite yet, but that’s how it’s feeling in my uber-stressed brain. Thankfully for me, I have “Give Up The Ghost” from Clearfight to share with you right now and not only is it an amazing single, it somehow gave me a sense to catch my breath while also giving me a boost of energy and postivity.
In true pop-punk-perfection style, “Give Up The Ghost” is a deceivingly depressing song in a way. It’s about losing who you are when you get lost in trying to live up to everyone else’s expectations. Along with that deep message, Clearfight gives you a very upbeat, infectious, and classic pop-punk vibe with the instrumentation happening throughout this nearly three minute track. It’s the rises and falls throughout this song that really hooked me. The first one of these is right around the 1:00 mark and it instantly hooked me. I’m not going to give it away but that moment alone was more then enough to tell me that Clearfight is a band to watch and “Give Up The Ghost” is a perfect anthem for the day I seem to be having today.
