Girl at the Rock Shows

“What’s It Like?” is such a broad question. What’s “what” like? For me, when I hear that question, my mind starts going a million miles an hour. What’s having an normal life like? What’s spending a night at home rather than being at a show like? So many questions and I felt myself spiraling as soon as I read this song title but, have no fear, what Sr. does with this question helps soothe your mind and soul so perfectly.

Much like their previous song I shared with you (check out my review of “GOOD FOR NOTHING” here!), “What’s It Like?” is a pop-punk perfect kind of jam. It’s the kind of song that instantly gets stuck in your head and makes you want to move around within just a few seconds. There’s a sense of playful energy that comes through in this song that remind me a lot of State Champs and Relient K but there’s also a slight edge that almost has a Four Year Strong influence to me. It’s subtle so maybe I’m crazy but I think that edge comes from the sheer amount of energy that radiated throughout this three and a half minute long song. Much like “GOOD FOR NOTHING”, listening to “What’s It Like?” has me absolutely desperate for a chance to catch this Arizona-based band live.
