I know I complain about my day job a lot but, honestly, I love it. I love the people I work with and the family I work for, and I love what I do (although selling literal nuts and bolts is not quite as glamorous as it may sound). This job keeps me sane and is the one thing in my life that is not music-related. That being said, there are definitely days where it feels like it’s a bit too much to do this on top of everything else I have going on. Today is not one of those days but yesterday definitely was and I only wish I had had “Cataracts (Hate Work Song)” from Knock For Six to blare to help me get through my tough Tuesday.

Knock For Six is a high-energy emo-leaning pop-punk band from Toledo, OH with a distinct sound and style that comes through loud and clear on this new track. I love that you can feel a sense of frustration that comes with a job that you hate but how, instead of internalizing the feelings that may come with that, Knock For Six offers this song as an outlet. There’s an ebb and flow to this song that helps you breathe out all of the toxicity that may be trying to take you over from a toxic job while also giving you space to scream and truly get it all out there. On top of it all, there’s a feeling of slight despair that could also be taken as triumphant energy. It’s a cool blend and kind of makes this track a bit of a choose-your-own-adventure song as you could either give into the despair or feel empowered by the triumph. The pace of this track is fast, and it almost has a hardcore-leaning drum style that I found particularly exciting and intriguing. Overall, “Cataracts (Hate Work Song)” from Knock For Six is a perfect track when you’re having a rough day at work but also a perfect track for any day in general because this band has a solid and powerful sound.
