There was no shortage of energy and dancing at the show I was at last night, but it wasn’t what I was used to. It was more of an EDM kind of vibe, which is a far cry from my typical mosh pit. I loved the life that it filled me with but it made me crave one of those sloppy and sweaty mosh pits that you get from a basement punk or metal show. I don’t know the next time I’ll be at one of those shows but I know that UGHH’s new song “Decapitator” gave me the same feeling.

Los Angeles’ UGHH has somehow captured the feeling of being in the middle of a messy mosh pit so perfectly regarding “Decapitator.” The song is gritty and dirty- far from perfect recording-wise, if you want me to be bluntly honest- but it’s perfect to me because of the rage and energy it brings to your soul. Sure, the recording quality is a bit rough with the way everything feels almost one leveled as far as the vocals and instrumentation goes, but there’s still a sense of powerful dynamics that you catch onto very quickly in this three-minute song. UGHH is relentless when it comes to the swagger and power that they assault you with in this song, and it’s truly lovely. I know it’s Friday, and I like to stay oddly poppy to celebrate the weekend, but “Decapitator” has me hooked and is giving me all of the good Friday vibes I could possibly ask for.
