Happy Tuesday, ya’ll. I wish I had some interesting or quirky intro to get you going today, but truthfully, I just don’t have it. What I do have is a heck of a song that will surely get your Tuesday started off right, and that song is “Fascist Baby” from The Earwurms.
This song is about a little bit of everything from fascism to heartbreak, but it’s not necessarily the lyrics that caught me here; it’s the overall artistry of this track. There’s something satisfyingly organic about the way this song flows. The composition doesn’t follow the standard rules and, instead, takes you on a sonic journey that, like the lyrics, seems to go all over the place. “Fascist Baby” doesn’t come off as an anthemic or even overly powerful punk song, yet The Earwurms’ self-described “conceptual punk” sound comes through loud and clear throughout this track. This is the kind of track that you could listen to over and over again and still find a new intricacy every time that has you hooked and looking for more.
