Do you ever feel like you’re just “existing” and not really “living?” Today is one of those days for me. Not trying to be all doom and gloom or anything, but it’s just one of those days where I feel like I’m just everyone’s punching bag and all I can think of to do is stand here and take it. I’m not sure why reading the name of Sarah Maison’s new song is giving me such a sense of existential dread, but here we are. Thankfully, this song is anything but dreadful and anything but a downer. In fact, “Exister” is a beautiful bop that you absolutely have to hear for yourself.
Everything about “Exister” is a trip in all of the best ways. From the psychedelic influence in the instrumentation of this song to Sarah’s stunning yet deep vocals and all the way to the video that comes with this track, this song is a straight up trip that will take you away from this world if only for a couple of minutes. Something happened to my head while listening to this song and being captivated by the video. That punching bag feeling went away and I found myself floating through clouds of neon colors as I danced along with the stars. That sounds dramatic and, honestly, quite cheesy, I know this, but the layers that make up “Exister” truly give you a kind of out of body experience. Don’t try and ignore it or avoid it. Let it happen becauase, I promise, it will change your mood instantly.
“Exister” is out now via Capitane Records. Sarah Maison’s new album ‘DIVAD’ will be out in September. My advice? Listen to “Exister” on repeat until September. I know that that’s what I’ll be doing.
