I know it goes without saying, but this world is vast. The people, the backgrounds, the cultures– there’s just so much out there but one thing that consistently brings people together is music and The Kendo Project is proof of that. This is a collective comprised of artists from all over the world who have formed a bond around their love of punk muisc and that bond is absolutely flawless as proven by this group’s debut single, “The Last.”

Not only did this single catch me right off the bat, it had me captivated throughout every passing beat. Overall, this is a catchy little bop with a very nostalgic and pop-punk leaning vibe and that perfect amount of angst to hold your attention. This three-minute track reads like your classic pop-punk anthem at first, which leaves me very little to say other than just listen to the perfection that comes with every instrument and every note, but there’s a twist. After the second chorus, that angsty edge turns into a subtle sense of aggression, adding an almost Four Year Strong or Set Your Goals feeling of intensity to this otherwise happy-go-lucky song. For a first song, “The Last” is impressive to say the leas,t and it definitely has me impatiently waiting to see what else The Kendo Project has up their sleeves.
