I’m frustrated. It’s been five days and I’m still super sick. People get sick. It happens. But, for me, going five days without a concert feels a bit like a death sentence, and there’s no end in sight. I’m pushing myself, if only because there’s a killer local festival happening all week, but I think I know there’s no way I’m going to make it out to it. It breaks my heart and is just adding to the frustration I’m already feeling over not feeling well. I’m trying everything I can to not get lost in the doom and gloom of it all. Honestly, it’s been nice to have some extra time at home and to get caught up on some other things but this morning has been rough just with the realization that I am still so sick. Thankfully for me, I have a bop of a track to kick the day off with, and I’m sure that it will help get me back into a more positive mindset, whether I remain sick or not.
I’m not sure anyone asked for a post-hardcore/ pop-punk styled cover of “Dancing Queen” from ABBA, but that’s exactly what Settle For Sleep has made, and it is beyond perfect. I often get caught up in cover songs that are not just covers, but full re-imaginations of iconic tracks, and what Settle For Sleep has done to this legendary slice of cheese is insane. You still have the familiar structure of the song, but with way more angst and edge behind it. What more can I even say here? This is one of those covers that you just have to hear for yourself because, no matter how I try to describe it, you won’t realize just how genius this cover is and how badly this world needed this re-imagination of such a timeless (albeit a bit overplayed) song.
