Girl at the Rock Shows

Merit Maker is one of those bands that I have watched grow over the years. I’ve stuck with them since first reviewing their EP ‘Quarantined’ all the way back in 2021. I’ve heard a lot of tracks from this band since then, and every one seems to hit a bit harder than the last, with “Around Again” being no exception.

“Around Again” is a song from Merit Maker’s new album ‘Better Days Ahead’ and it instantly had me hooked with the simple but powerful intro that brings you into this song. It starts off with a ridiculously catchy bassline and powerful drums before the vocals come in and show you Merit Maker’s base sound. It’s definitely pop-punk and definitely nostalgic, but there’s something about Merit Maker’s sound that makes them stand out in the oversaturated pop-punk scene of today. They don’t try to be anything other than what they are- a fast and furious kind of pop-punk band with slightly Blink-182 styled vocals matched with instrumentation that feels a bit more skate punk. Long story short, “Around Again” is perfect for all of you nostalgia-seeking pop-punk fans because it will help take you down memory lane while giving you a new obsession at the same time.
