Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m on the fence about what I want to do tonight. I really want a show because, after taking last night off from shows, I’m starved for some live music. At the same time, a night of sitting at home, cleaning the house, and getting caught up on some album reviews sounds perfect (although a bit less exciting). I don’t know why I seem to be getting all worked up about this decision, especially when I still have a full day of work ahead of me before I get to that point, but here we are. My ADHD is off the charts, and my anxiety is starting to rise. You know what that means, it’s time to check out another new track.

Honestly, “Absolutely Legend” couldn’t have come at a better time for me. This is a truly anthemic song with a vibe that makes you feel fresh and free. Although the beginning of this track starts off fairly cool, calm, and collected, it doesn’t take long for the sheer power of Tommy Magik and the Wonderfulls to come in and sweep you off your feet. There’s something of a retro vintage hue throughout this song, but at the same time, there’s something ridiculously modern and catchy about it. Stylistically, this song dabbles between alt rock, indie rock, and even has little glimmers of something somewhat adjacent to pop-punk. I love how the power of this song seems to creep up on you and take over without the song ever truly reaching a moment of sheer panic or intensity. “Absolutely Legend” is just one of those songs that makes you feel good and should not be ignored, especially on a Monday morning.
