I am starting to get organized for Riot Fest. All of my requests to cover bands that need secondary approval are in, and I’m starting to loosely plan out my days. I’ve only been working on this for a couple of minutes at this point, but it’s all just so overwhelming. There are so many dang legends on this lineup, and so many opportunities to review and photograph bands that I never thought I would see live, let alone review and take photos of. It’s a lot, and I need a break before my head explodes, so now seems like the perfect time to check out “Legends” from Daphne.

“Legends” is one of the songs off of Daphne’s new EP that dropped just about a month ago. This song is snappy and catchy, so make sure to set some time aside to check out this EP as a whole. I got a little Blink 182 (Matt Skiba era) vibe from this track, but also got something that felt a bit more nostalgic in some of the verses of this three-minute-long song. Although I could rattle off a list of bands that this song reminds me of, it’s easier to just call this song pop-punk-perfect because, at the end of the day, that’s what it is. It’s explosive and catchy and comes with an undeniable sense of heart, passion, and fire. Daphne got their start during the lockdown of 2020, which, if you ask me, is an odd time to kick a band off, but it seems to have worked for this Seattle-based group as they come off as tight, well-curated, and perfectly controlled in “Legends”.
