If you haven’t caught on to it, my musical taste is all over the place. Although I definitely seem to stay a bit grounded in the pop punk and metal side of things, there are some days when a little indie folk rock can take me a long way, and today is one of those days. It takes a special indie folk song to really catch me, but “Nowhere Land” from Timmy Skelly did it with ease.

“Nowhere Land” is definitely an indie folk rock song, but it’s so much more than just that. There’s a swagger in this song that makes it irresistible, and a timeless, instant classic aura that gets it stuck in your heart. There were moments of this track that reminded me a bit of Beck, followed by moments of slight angst in the vein of Langhorne Slim. On top of all this, there was an almost hippie-era kind of energy that serves as a setting for this amazing track. Mark my words, it’s just a matter of time before Timmy Skelly is a household name. Beyond this amazing song, Timmy has spent his year playing on festivals and stages that are truly larger than life. From playing Boston Calling to touring with bands like Jimmy Eat World and Wilderado, Timmy is just getting started, and I cannot wait to see where he goes.
