Have you caught on to the fact that I’m all about celebrating the little things? I’m caught up on day job work. It’s a good feeling, and it’s been a while since I’ve had it. Although I still have a lot of my own work to do, I feel like it’s time for a little celebration by checking out another new single. This one is “Invisible Girl” from Playing Dead.
I’m a ’90s baby through and through, and that’s why I was instantly hooked by this new track from Playing Dead. It has a very easy, breezy kind of 90s alt-rock vibe that is as infectious as it is comforting. I typically prefer to find my own comparisons when reviewing singles, but I think the band nailed it perfectly with the description they sent with “Invisible Girl”. “Part Paramore and part Weezer.” It’s the perfect way to describe this song. The vocals, although absolutely flawlessly smooth, are raw and full of emotion. The instrumentation evokes a sunny day on the beach, but with a little extra chutzpah behind it, lending this song a slightly punk edge. There’s not much more to say about this song, and I hate that, but believe me when I say that this song will surely put a smile on your face, no matter how rough your Tuesday morning has been thus far.
