I’d like to say that I don’t really “play it safe,” but, ultimately, I am a creature of habit. I feel like those are opposites, so I suppose I can’t really say that I don’t “play it safe.” This has nothing to do with the new song from Everything’s Fine, other than the song title, but don’t let this terribly intro into the song stop you from checking it out.
“play it safe” is from Everything’s Fine’s recently released debut EP and I have a feeling that after just one listen to this song, you will want to check out the EP in its entirety. It’s a punchy pop-punk anthem that comes complete with call and response gang vocals, an energy that puts you smack dab in the middle of a sweaty moshpit, and a heart that will make you not just hear every word, but feel every word. This track is about accountability and unlearning self-sabotage. You can feel a sense of frustration throughout this song, but you can also feel a triumphant sense of hope as the song changes the message from blaming the world for failures to standing up and owning up. Although I absolutely would call this a pop-punk perfect kind of track, make sure you listen until the very end of this two and a half minute long song for a huge plot twist that is as insane as it is perfect.
