I am in dire need of a haircut right now, but the problem is that I don’t know what to do with it. I feel like my mullet, as glorious as it is, has maybe run its course, but now I’m in the mood to grow all my hair out, or is it time to do a super short pixie? Yes, this is me looking for input, so feel free to chime in, but if you have no opinion on my hair, at least check out “Haircut” from Kim & Dro.
“Haircut” really isn’t about a haircut at all. It’s about queer love and joy, and saying it filled my heart and soul with warmth would be an understatement. The message is heavy if you let your mind wander into the pain that many queer people are feeling in this day and age, but Kim & Dro shine a light on the positives, and that is the feeling of just being in love, no matter who you are or who you’re in love with. There’s just so much joy radiating from this song and the bright video that accompanies it. Honestly, the video is simple. It shows Kim & Dro skipping and walking down a sidewalk. Nothing life-changing, nothing monumental, yet just watching these two humans trot down the street brought me a sense of joy. Add in the bubbly and carefree nature of this song in general, and you are left with the kind of track that is perfect for a sleepy and slow-moving Thursday morning.
