Although I just took a week off from everything (which, again, was not only abnormal for me but such a weird feeling), I’m the type of person who lives a fast life. Not a live fast, die young kind of life, but more that I just like to fill my life with things and rarely take a break. That’s kind of what “Buffalo” from Takeover is about, but it’s so much more than just that one subject.
“Buffalo” feels like a sweaty dive bar. It’s a fast-paced song that’s full of grit and attitude. I love how this feels like a rock song. It’s not trying to be punk (although I feel like it leans into that world), it’s not trying to be hardcore, it’s just good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll that comes complete with the feeling of sweat dripping down your spine as you may experience at a basement show. It’s a little Struts minus the theatrics, a little Bleachers minus the pretentiousness, and a whole lot of heart. It’s been a few days since I’ve been at a concert, and I still have one more day before I change that, but listening to this quick, two-minute, and fifteen-second song definitely put me in that mind frame in a perfect way.
