I’m starting to feel things get back to normal. I just took down the traditional Channukah tree (okay, that’s not a real thing but, who doesn’t love a sparkling tree during the holiday season) and plan on cleaning up all of the fake needles that my cats so graciously tore to the ground while the tree was up but I need a soundtrack to help me do this daunting task so let’s jump into another new track, shall we?
I don’t know what “B.O.T.E” really stands for (although, after listening to this track, it’s not hard to figure it out), but I know that it doesn’t really matter when it comes to this song. This track from Defiant is an instant skate punk classic. The pace of the track is fast, and the lyrics fly by furiously throughout this nearly four-minute-long song. That being said, there’s something oddly emotional about what happens throughout this song. There’s a brilliant and dramatic ebb and flow to the angst and energy throughout this song. When you mix that with the super-infectious and oddly hooky chorus, you are left with a certified banger of a track. “B.O.T.E” has been out for six months, which, I know, means it’s not a new song, but it was new to me, and it instantly made me want to drop everything and dig a bit deeper into Defiant’s world. I have a feeling that after just one listen to this song, you will be in the same boat.
