When will life get back to normal? What would normal even look like at this point? I hate the fact that I wake up every morning and instantly check my phone to see what fresh hell awaits Minneapolis and Minnesota. I hate that I haven’t been able to make it to a show in a few days. I hate that sharing out new music doesn’t feel right. I hate that I can’t concentrate on work. I hate a lot of things right now but what I love is this community that I call home. The amount of love and passion that I have seen on the streets of Minneapolis since January 7th is insane. Is sharing out new music the right thing to do right now? I honestly don’t know but I know that, if you’re like me, you need a little bit of solace and peace right now and hopefully a day full of sharing new music out will help you with that.

The kind of calm within “Shadows” from Off Task is just what I needed. This song is crunchy and grungy but there’s also this calming shoegaze-styled vibe to this track that hit me straight to the heart. It’s a song about self-doubt, self-sabotage but there’s this feeling of strength behind it that seems to almost juxtapose the words in such a stunning way. I don’t have a lot of background on Off Task or the members of this band but there’s something just so well polished about “Shadows” that I have to assume that this band has been around for a hot minute. Maybe I’m wrong on that but, either way, this band and this song in particular is more than worthy of your attention this morning.
