The title of this song couldn’t be more perfect. “But. All. Jokes. Aside. (I’m Not Having A Blast)”– I feel like no truer words have been spoken. Although I feel like it’s fallen out of the major news circuit, things are still not okay up here in the Twin Cities. Neighbors are still being disappeared by federal agents, businesses are still shuttered, and life is far from normal. I won’t be a downer all day because, the truth is, I just can’t take it anymore but I found this odd sense of solace in this song title alone just knowing that this feeling is not one that is only being felt by us here in the Twin Cities.
This is not the first song I’ve shared from Bury Mia and it surely won’t be the last. It’s a song about burnout and that moment when even the snarkiest of sense of humor can’t keep you going. I’m there people and I love how this song acted like a shoulder to have a mini-breakdown on as I try to pretend like life is moving forward and things are okay. It’s a raw and emotional song all wrapped up in a bow of Bury Mia’s signature energy that screams to be seen live. “But. All. Jokes. Aside. (I’m Not Having A Blast)” is as infectious as it is a serious statement on a problem that we all face. I know I don’t know the members of this Fort Collins, Colorado-based bad personally but this song made me feel seen by them and has just strengthened my connection and love for this amazing band.
