I don’t have anything for you right now. I know I just shared out a new song with you and I try to space these out a bit more but, honestly, I’m just not in the mood to work and checking out new music is just bringing me a bit more joy right now so why fight it? Let’s go ahead and jump into “In Doom” from James E. Gray.
This song is dramatic and dark and I absolutely love it. I’m a classically trained pianist. I don’t advertise that much but, if you meet me, you may notice a giant grand piano tattooed on my arm. I love piano and that’s the first thing that caught me with this track. The tone of the piano is perfect and the way that the notes seem to dance under the drama that is James E. Gray’s iconic voice is just so perfect. Add in the almost orchestral instrumentation that adds lush layers to this already beautiful song and you are left with a stunning piece of art. Although this song is dark and dramatic, there’s also something positive and energized about it at the same time. Think the stadium power of MUSE mixed with the darkness of something a bit more dungeon-y feeling like Nine Inch Nails and all wrapped up with the musical theatre-inspired side of Panic at the Disco and you can get close to what James E. Gray is doing in this track but it’s not a perfect match so just go ahead and check this song out for yourself.
