Girl at the Rock Shows

I stopped by my local watering hole after my show last night. I just felt weird going to be without at least one green drink in me to celebrate St. Patty’s Day. That was a mistake. I am definitely feeling it this morning and am in a bit of a haze but work doesn’t stop and neither can I. I need to suck it up and get my head in the game which means I need to get today started off right. “Sumac Red” from Quality Living is absolutely a way to start a day off right.

“Sumac Red” is the kind of song that is constantly changing. At the beginning, this song feels like just a standard indie-pop song but, as the song rolls along, you get to hear so many sides of Quality Living’s unique sound. It goes from indie-pop to something a bit more rock to something a bit more retro and then back again. It’s not just the vibe that changes, the spotlight changes as well. There are moments when the guitar is what caught my eye but, just when I started falling into a guitar lick, I would get caught by a drum beat or a string of words. Long story short, this is the kind of song that is best just enjoyed, not studied because, if you start trying to study and figure out “Sumac Red,” you will inevitably give up. “Sumac Red” is the lead single from this New Jersey-based band’s forthcoming album ‘Glacier’ so, if you like what you hear here, make sure to give this band a follow so you don’t miss any other dazzling singles from the album or the album in full.
