Why is this band name yelling at me? Why is that my first thought when seeing this song? My head is in a weird space today. I’m tired but wide awake. Anxious about something, but I have no clue what that something is, so I keep on trying to push the anxiety out of my mind. It works for a couple of minutes, but then quickly comes back to the forefront of my mind. I’m chilly, but my emotional support hoodie feels so heavy and warm. As I said, weird mood, so maybe that’s why I feel like Daniel RIOT! is shouting at me as a band name. Really, it has nothing to do with this song, but it is the first thing that caught my attention.
Right off the bat, Daniel RIOT! hits you with a super infectious groove that persists throughout this three-minute-long song. I’ll be honest, when I say the band name, my mind instantly went to punk or at least pop-punk, but that’s not at all what this song is. It’s an alt-rock jam with indie-rock sensibilities and an almost pop-like bounce. It’s a fun track, but it definitely lacks the edge and angst that I typically look for. That being said, it’s just too strong and fun a song to not share with you. All of that anxiety that I’ve been trying to pinpoint today seemed to melt away with every word and note of this track in such a perfect way. All of a sudden, I had a burst of energy, and the temperature in my office was perfect. Maybe you just need a song to take you away from the day. Maybe you need a few minutes of peaceful and fun bliss. Maybe you just don’t know what kind of mood you’re in or what you need. No matter what, I think that “Monster” from Daniel RIOT! is just what you need right now.
