Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Friday! We’ve made it. I’m not sure I really believed that this moment would ever arrive, being that this has felt like one of the longest weeks ever but the fact that we’ve made it means it’s time to celebrate so let’s jump right in and check out “You Smell Like Her” from Salt Mirror as a little present for all of us.

“You Smell Like Her” came out three months ago, which, I know, in the scheme of the music industry, is forever ago, but this was a new song to me this morning, so I’m sure it’s a new song to some of you, too. Salt Mirror is also a brand new band to me, but after my first listen to this track, I knew that this would not be the last time I spend time with Salt Mirror. This song is half tenderness, half angst, and it’s perfect. The way this band finds a balance between a sound that feels a bit like The Get Up Kids but laces in this intensity that feels a bit more like Thrice is what caught my ear. I love how this song can bend into whatever category you need it to be when you listen to it. If you need comfort, you can find it in those tender moments, or if you’re like me this morning and feel like you’re dragging a bit more than usual, you can latch onto those bursts of sheer power and let it fill you with a sense of fire and energy. Either way, I’m sure that after just one listen to “You Smell Like Her,” you are going to want so much more from Salt Mirror so make sure to follow this band on their socials and feel free to dig into some of their other material out there as we all fight to the finish line of the week.
