I really don’t have anything for you right now. I’ve been busy with work and have come to terms with the fact that I’m not going to get everything done this week that I wanted to. Honestly, it’s fine. I am just one person and am far from a robot or machine, so it is what it is, and I’m calling it a bit early by saying that I was “Close Enough” to getting everything done. Okay, I’m not calling it quite yet, but checking out new music is definitely taking priority over everything else because it’s what’s making me happy right now, so let’s do just that and check out “Close Enough” from Peak 11.
This song is about conflict resolution in a relationship, but really, I think this song does a great job of talking about conflict resolution regardless of the setting. Much like what it takes to get through a conflict, this song features a sense of space (like the space you may need from a loved one when you start to feel smothered), but you also get a frantic, almost panicked kind of vibe at times (like when you just want everything to be okay, so you rush through feelings and thoughts). I love the ups and downs of dynamics and excitement that happen throughout this track, but I also like the overall style. It’s nostalgic with a very The Strokes kind of energy to it, but it comes with a Killers-style anthemic power as well. These two sounds mesh together to create a song that will both soothe your heart and energize your soul, making it the perfect kind of song to use to kick off your weekend.
