Even on my best days, my mind is a chaotic mess. I’ve learned to deal with it. I have my coping mechanisms and get through just fine but there are definitely some days where all I can do is just shake my head and mutter, “Fuck My Life.” Today isn’t one of those days. Or maybe it is. Things have been rough, but last night was a dream come true. It’s all so complicated, and it’s messy, but that’s just life, right? I used to think I was the only one who felt this way, but that’s when I heard “Fuck My Life” from Frida Raz.
This song isn’t just about the chaos and mess that some of us hide in our own heads; it’s about not being alone. This song starts off slow, smoky, and slightly eerie. You get a taste of Frida’s soulful voice, and she instantly traps you in her world before hitting you with the angsty core of this song. I really can not say enough about the vocals in this song. Don’t get me wrong, the instrumentation is great, but it’s Frida’s voice that leads you through the dark and ominous caverns of your mind in this song. Don’t worry and don’t be scared. Although this is a dark and creepy song, it’s also comforting, as if Frida is right there, holding your hand as you take on your own demons. This is all such a dramatic way to describe a song, I know that, but that’s the point of this track. “Fuck My Life” is drama. It’s angst and sadness. Dark and cold. But it’s also stunning, beautiful, and powerful. It’s life put into just three minutes of perfect harmony.
