Although it definitely feels good to be back at work and be back on a schedule rather than just napping and couch rotting all day, I’ll be honest, I want to be anywhere but here right now. My head is in the work game right now, but not the work game of my day job, and I feel like every time I have something come across my desk for my actual day job, I get pissed. I just want to sit here and book shows and listen to new music all day, so that’s exactly what I plan on doing. None of this has to do with “Persuasion” from DUSTPONY.

“Persuasion” is a super moody but fun jam from DUSTPONY that speaks to accountability in a way. As the band puts it, “‘Persuasion’ is about the moment attraction turns transactional — when both people are working an angle and neither will admit it. It plays out like a game: a hook thrown, a bet placed, the upper hand changing sides. Cat-and-mouse over a steady, easy groove, the lyric circling back to “it’s outta my hands” — like nobody in the story wants to own the choice they’re making.” Perfect, right? Absolutely, but what really makes this song perfect is the distinct sound and style that is DUSTPONY. It’s definitely alt-rock with this super nostalgic 90s kind of vibe, but there are also moments that seem to have this almost Weezer-inspired pop-punk kind of feel. All of these things come together to create a sound that can only be described as DUSTPONY.
