When was the last time you went to IKEA? It’s been years for me. There are some days when I think about going. There’s one not too far from my house, and I love getting random little tchotchkes from the megastore, but then I think about the maze that I have to go through just to get to the fun part of the store, and my longing for a trip to the giant store quickly fades into something else. I’m not the only one who feels that way. How do I know that? Because there’s now even a song about getting trapped in IKEA’s maze.
NFÏ has absolutely nailed the pissed-off feeling that you get when visiting IKEA. It’s a quick and punchy song that I will absolutely be blaring loud and clear next time I find myself trapped in an IKEA. I love the fact that this band felt so passionate about this store that they wrote a full song about it, but I love, even more, that this song is catchy and oh so very perfect. Here is where I would typically write about how, although this song is written specifically about IKEA, it can relate to so many other aspects of your life, but really, that’s not the point of this song. It’s just a pissed-off story about going into IKEA to get one thing and getting stuck in their maze of overconsumption-induced mania, and, really, that’s perfect on its own.
