I did something I never do– I took today off from my day job for a mental health day. Okay, maybe a mental health day isn’t the right way to describe how my Friday is going to go. It’s more a day for me to get caught up on everything else I have going on and finally clean my house. It feels weird, but it feels great, and I’m ready to find the perfect soundtrack for this perfect day.

The second song from Death Cassette’s new LP (which should be out soon), “Clutter” is a perfectly gritty and angsty anthem with a pop-punk feeling and honest lyrics that soar above it all. The song is about overthinking. Sure, the song is written specifically about overthinking a relationship or a crush but, really, it could relate to overthinking anything. It’s as simple as that, and that’s what makes this the perfect song to sing (or scream) along to. I love how this band has taken the infectious energy of nostalgic pop punk bands and mixed it with a punk grit that gives it an almost The Distillers kind of color. “Clutter” is a perfect track if you’re like me and are constantly reverting back to nostalgic anthems but wanting something new and, given the world, are feeling particularly angsty and energized.
