It’s another super snowy day up here in Minneapolis and, although I love the snow, I know a lot of people do not and they are all just looking for something good today. Thankfully, Casual Drag has come in clutch for that with their new single “Something Good”!
There’s a garage-punk vibe to this track that I found absolutely addicting and, although the recording quality is overall just a bit fuzzy and rough, it truly works with the sound of this band. There’s something classic about the overall style of this track that makes it feel almost a little retro but also moments that reminded me of great modern bands like IDLES and Viagra Boys. This balance is one that I haven’t heard many bands pull off but the trio that is Casual Drag makes it seem effortless.
This is the type of song that is best played loud– as loud as possible and will make you want to move around your space in the most awkward ways. Don’t resist– it truly just enhances the listening experience. So get up, press play, and let “Something Good” take you over!
