I think we can all agree that wet socks are the worst when they have the literal meaning. When it comes to “Wet Socks” from Nostranders– that’s a whole other story.
The first couple of seconds of this track is just a bassline. Although fairly simple and hollow, I feel like the bass pulls you in before the rest of the band comes in and gives you Nostranders’ signature sound. A little fuzzy post-punk vibe with emo and alt rock tendencies, this song is equally calming and energetic. Although everything about this track is amazing, it’s the vocals that I fell in love with. They are clear but aren’t crisp (which is not a bad thing). They kind of slide from word to word with a SoCal surf punk vibe but I wouldn’t classify this song as such. The song itself is fairly standard with no big surprises but plenty of twists and turns throughout that keep you engaged and on your toes.
I never thought I would say this but “Wet Socks” is the best way to kick off your Tuesday so check out this track and show Nostranders some love!
