It’s not enough 10 AM here and I am already overwhelmed with the day and ready to just shut down but I can’t do that. I’m feeling both manic and depressed at the same time and I need a song that kind of speaks to that while giving me the motivation to keep going with the day instead of just giving up. Thankfully, the next single on my list is “Today” from Collective Fear.
With it’s almost whimsical instrumentation and heavy-hitting vocals with an undeniable sense of passion and heart, this song was perfect for me this morning. There’s something both calming and energetic about this track depending on which elements you choose to hone in on. For me, I really focused in on the calming nature of the vocals. They are almost hypnotizing with a shoegaze feeling and a fuzzy sound but they still have an undeniable sense of power to them. The fusion of so many different genres throughout this song is absolutely stunning but not as stunning as the emotion that comes with every note and every word. I don’t know how the music gods knew that this song was what I needed this morning but it was truly absolutely perfect. I don’t typically just listen to one song for an extended period of time but, with how perfectly this one hit me this morning, I may have to do just that.
