Many days when going to be or waking up, I find myself asking “Is This Real Life”. This morning was one of those mornings. I got to see Nick Cave last night and, by the end of the week, I will have seen numerous other acts both big and small. It’s not a brag, it’s a truth– I wonder is this real life all the time purely because, I mean, who gets to do this night after night? All of these reasons (and many more) made Geech Sorensen’s single “Is This Real Life” the perfect fit for my Tuesday morning.
I don’t typically fall for acoustic tracks just because I am always looking for music to give me a burst of energy or light that fire under my butt that I need to get stuff done but I fell fast and hard fir Geech Sorensen’s song, “Is This Real Life”. This is a chill and acoustic track but it had me hook line and sinker upon first listen. It’s a very raw song but also polished at the same time. The way Geech has an ebb and flow in this song is beautiful. There are builds that are truly breathtaking and then other moments where you almost have to strain to hear what’s going on. It’s a dreamlike soundscape that drifted me away from my desk, my emails, and everything else I sill need to do this morning. Still back and take a chill pill. “Is This Real Life” is the perfect way to get your Tuesday started off.
