My head is spinning right now. There’s just so much to do and I am overwhelmed to the point of a breakdown. Honestly, I wish things were way back when. You know, before you had a job, bills, responsibilities, and it was just fun. Although that’s not exactly what “N&F (Looking up at the 90s)” from Jack Quit the Band is about, it did give me a moment to get a little nostalgic which helped me avoid a full-blown break.
After a quick ambient intro, Jack Quit the Band hits you with a mathrock inspired guitar riff before jumping into the meat and potatoes of this track. It’s an overall calming and chill track but there’s a lot going on. I’m not sure how this band pulled such a thing off. Complicated lines of notes yet it’s so easy to follow and listen to.– not an easy thing to do but Jack Quit the Band makes it sound easy. As mentioned, there’s something nostalgic about this track and I promise that’s not just due to the song title. Although the overall vibe of this song is super fresh, there’s a nod to the indie-pop greats of the 90s sprinkled throughout this song. All in all, I found this to be a super intriguing song that got in my head even though it’s far from “normal”. If you’re looking for something different, fresh, yet familiar, Jack Quit the Band’s “N&F (Looking up at the 90s)” is the track for you!
