Vacations are fun until it’s the day before you leave, your friend still hasn’t had her baby, your emails won’t slow down, you still have laundry to do but the water is off at your house until later, you forgot about the trip altogether so you still have a concert to cover the night before you leave, and you still have a pile of crap to do that you’ve been putting off all week. Things are fine. Everything is fine. I’ll make it through and, in just over twenty-four hours, will be in Las Vegas. Okay, things are not fine. I’m stressed to the brim but I have “FATHER JOHN” from Family Man to help keep me calm right now.

When I read that this band is known for their punk roots and power-pop sensibilities, I kind of snort-laughed. I mean, what does that even mean. Are you punk or are you power-pop? If you’re a mixture, wouldn’t that make you pop-punk? Then the song hit and I realized exactly what it means to have punk roots and power-pop sensibilities. This song, at times, reminds me of bands like Refused and IDLES with the patient intensity that persists throughout the track but, at other times, I’m getting an almost retro The Strokes vibe and that power-pop feeling that the band eluded to in their intro to me. Yeah, go ahead and snort-laugh, I know I sound crazy but, one listen to “FATHER JOHN” and you will realize that I am not crazy, and neither is Family Man (unless the word crazy is followed by amazing). So check out the crazy amazing song “Father John” from the crazing amazing band Family Man right now and show them some love on their socials.
