Girl at the Rock Shows

I caught a lot of amazing music when I was at When We Were Young this past weekend in Las Vegas. Citizen was one of those bands. They were not new to me as I have seen them multiple times and they have found a place on my daily playlists but seeing them reminded me just how good this band is so it seems only perfect that I share their new single “Can’t Take It Slow” with you today,

“Can’t Take It Slow” is a classic Citizen song. It has elements of post-hardcore and pop-punk all wrapped up in a bow of perfection. A catchy chorus and instrumentation that will haunt you in your dreams (in the best way possible) are just the cherry on top to this new track from Citizen. One of the things I really love about Citizen is the fact that, when you hear one of their songs, you know it’s them and this new one is no different. There’s a raw energy that radiates with every word and every note from this song while, overall, the track feels fairly lowkey and steady. “Can’t Take It Slow” has moments where you want to raise your fist and chant along with the words and others where you just want to sit back and enjoy the musicianship that comes through loud and clear. Regardless of what you’re looking for right now, I’m pretty sure this song has it so what are you waiting for? Check it out and become obsessed with Citizen like I have.
