I still have about an hour left of my day job before I can go home only to turn around and go back out for my show tonight. I’m hoping that after my day job and before my show, I can find a few minutes to sleep. I’m a huge fan of naps and days that I don’t have time for said naps are definitely some of my worst but I’m on the fence about taking one today. I just have so much to do and not enough time. Thankfully, after hearing “Sleep” from Lost Vessels, I think I have enough energy to forego the nap and not be a complete bear by the time I make it to my show.
It’s a bit ironic. “Sleep” is actually about the sleepless nights that we all know too much about yet this song somehow breathed life into me. It’s a pop-punk-perfect track but it’s not your typical anthemic pop-punk. This song features dual male/ female vocals that mesh so perfectly together to create a classic and nostalgic vibe while Lost Vessels’ distinct style keeps this from becoming just another generic track. There’s no denying the beauty that comes through in the vocals here but also no ignoring the amount of calm energy that will crash upon you while listening to this single. I know that Los Vessels are from New Zealand which means it could be a hot minute before I get the chance to see them live but if “Sleep” is any indication as to what to expect from this band then I think it’s safe to assume that they will blow up very soon meaning more of a chance of them coming to the states. I’m not holding my breath but I am absolutely hopeful.
