I have nothing witty to say right now. I just know I don’t want to be at work anymore so I’m trying to distract myself by checking out new song after new song. It’s working so why stop now.

If you’ve never heard of the band Fall Break, you are not alone. This is a brand-spankin’ new band from the Midwest that just got started last summer. Even though they are brand new, they have clearly honed in on a sound of perfection. Their single “Ghosts” is a lush demonstration of how you can have a sense of power without being aggressive. The ebb and flow throughout this song is dramatic but the tenderness with with the band approaches each note keep it feeling relatable and honest. The raw vocals remind me a bit of The Early November but mixed with something ever so slightly more angsty. I feel like “Ghosts” falls into every genre spanning from hard rock to pop rock ever so slightly with tendencies leaning into emo and indie-rock. How you would classify this song all depends on how you interpret Fall Break’s sound. Regardless of how you classify it (or if you even choose to do so), “Ghosts” will have you completely captivated while bringing you a sense of comfort at the same time.
