Girl at the Rock Shows

“Do As Thou Wilt” from Sister Jude is one of those songs that submitted to me without any background information (other than the fact that this is a solo project from Washington DC) but, really, the song speaks for itself.

The song starts with a clip from the Oprah show (at least I’m 99% show it’s Oprah). This intro gives you no insight as to what’s to come but it’s a playful way to kick off a song. After this quick clip, you get to hear the genius of Sister Jude. It’s a little vintage, a little punk, a little rock, and a whole lot of fun. The beat and instrumentation is playful with vocals that seamlessly switch from a The Strokes vibe to a more Jean Dawson sound. It’s such a cool blend that I was not quite expecting but, when it hit, that’s all I wanted to hear from here on out. Typically, when I hear this much creativity come in one song, I assume that it’s due to the influence of multiple band members but the fact that Sister Jude is just a solo project left me breathless.
