I’m grinding my teeth this morning. It’s obnoxious and I hate it but something has me overly stressed right now. The problem is I can’t put my finger on it and I don’t have the time to dwell on trying to figure it out. Thankfully for me, music is a coping skill and I’m hoping that checking out “Self Esteem (Everyone’s Leaving)” from Hollow River may give me the peace I am apparently in desperate need of right now.
This high-energy bop hit me perfectly and it hit me hard. The intro is a bit slow and almost diary-styled but the song quickly moves into a punk-fueled song that comes complete with gang vocals. I’ll be honest, the recording quality of this track is a bit rough compared to what I typically share out to you. I feel like the overall levels are just super quiet meaning you have to turn the volume up when checking this track out but that’s not a bad thing as this song deserves to be played loud. Within my first listen of this song, I felt connected to not only the lyrics, but Hollow River in general. Talk about a way to get my attention with just one song! Hollow River just put out a 6-track EP this Halloween so please excuse me while I dig into that a bit more this morning.
