I went to what may be my #1 show of the year last night. After that, I went to the bar with the boyfriend and bestie where we won a couple hundred dollars on e-tabs. It was a great night but I definitely felt that last drink I had before leaving the bar when I woke up this morning. It’s now almost noon and I’m still feeling those drinks but I’m feeling ready to take on the world and ready to share some amazing music with you today starting with “Honest” from When The Sun Sets.
“Honest” is a pop-punk-perfect pick but with an extra sprinkle of angst in it. Although I would stop short of calling this song “heavy”, there’s definitely an edge that comes with every word which makes sense when you think about the meaning of this track. This is essentially a callout to the liars in your life. There’s no time for liars when life is so short and When The Sun Sets does a great job of reminding you of this in this track. The band does a great job of pulling in influences from the early 2000s pop-punk scene while also adding a bit more of a modern pop to the song with some of the instrumentation and vocal stylings. Long story short, this is the song you need to hear right now so what are you waiting for?
