Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m feeling a bit frantic right now so chill music is kind of hitting the spot. That, among other reasons, is why I’m so hooked on “POSSUM” from meija featuring Eels right now.

Honestly, the first thing that caught me about this song was the video. I won’t give away the whole thing but the video spoke to me on a deep level about the rat race that we all get stuck in while, at the same time, we all try to deny we are a part of. I’m not sure if that was supposed to be the message behind this song or maybe I’m digging a bit too deep today but, regardless, it spoke to me. Beyond the clever depth of the video is this song in general. meija has a very chill tone and vibe about their music which is only emphasized by the lending hand that Eels adds to this track. Although it’s chill, there are clear rises and falls within this track that keep it feeling fresh and energized. The climax (around the three minute mark) is perfectly timed and crafted to make for a song that both makes you think and gets stuck in your head. Whether you get struck by the video or song in general, “POSSUM” from meija featuring Eels is a perfect track that deserves your attention today.
