FFO: Pop-Punk Jams; Emotionally Charged Vocals

My day is just trucking along over here. I’m getting a lot done and completely ignoring my ever-growing to-do list and, honestly, it’s working out for me. I’m not feeling overwhelmed, not overly stressed and although I’m still trying to get over my slight hangover, it’s all going pretty good. I honestly think one of the reasons for such a solid morning is all of the amazing new music I’ve been checking out and that includes “big bad news” from blankstate..

“big bad news” is the newest single from Charlotte, NC based blankstate. Although they are a new band to me, they seem to be killing it in their home town and there’s a good reason for that. This song in particular definitely nods to the trail of nostalgia that I seem to be going down today but also comes with a fresh take on that nostalgia. Call it pop-punk, call it emo, call it whatever you want– this song comes full of emotion and heart that will pull you into blankstate.’s world so easily and make it hard to leave. The vocals aren’t perfect but that’s what makes them perfect. They come with a very raw sound to them which just adds to that emotion that had me hooked on blankstate. in the first place. Don’t let this song fool you. Although it does seem to stay pretty one-lined as far as energy goes, there are subtle rises and falls scattered throughout this three minute track that keep it super fresh so make sure to listen to the full song!
